Block Mounting: Mounting & Laminating Your Posters, Prints, Photos or Artworks
Block Mounting is a modern and durable way to hang your photos without a frame. Your artwork is mounted on a sturdy, high density wood fiber plaque with a bevelled edge, available in a variety of colors. The plaque and images are then permanently sealed with a matte, UV-protected laminate.

Your prints will be protected against moisture, UV light, smudges and scratches. The wooden backing is lightweight but durable, perfect for mobile display panels or prints displayed in high-activity areas.

Plaques are priced according to size and mounting method. The price will also vary depending on whether you require us to print your images, or can supply us with the hard copies. Please use the pricing calculator below to determine the correct pricing based on the service you need.

Q14 : Do you provide plaque mounting for more than 1 photo per board?

Q1 : What is plaque mounting?
Plaque mounting is the process by which your artwork (poster, print, photo, etc.) is laminated onto medium-density fiberboard, or MDF. The edges are then bevelled and painted with a colour of your choice.

Q2 : How do I mount my Plaque Mount to the wall?
You can mount your plaque using a suitable size, flat head nail, screw, or picture hanger. The plaque is equipped with a keyhole hanger cut out on the back, so you need only insert the nail head into the wide end of the hanger and slide the plaque along the nail until it sits straight on the wall.
For a detailed guide please see this page: Hanging Plaque Mounts

Q3 : How are plaque mountings done?
Your product will be mounted to MDF/wood and heat pressed. A special UV protective vinyl is laminated over the print and heat-pressed with 90 tons of pressure. The edges are then finished with your choice of color or pattern.

Q4 : Why should I choose plaque mounting over conventional picture framing?
Plaque mounting is a more affordable alternative to picture framing. Because, unlike picture framing, there is no glass involved, plaques are safe for use in kids' rooms and other high-activity areas. They also have an easy-to-clean surface.

Q5 : How can I place an order for plaque mounting?
There are two ways to order a plaque mount product:
1- If you have a digital copy of your original photo or document, upload it through our upload page, select Plaque Mount, and continue from there.
2- If you have a poster or printed material that you would like plaque mounted, start by entering the size using our online price calculator. Then select the style you want, and continue to checkout. Once we have received your order details, we will send our address details by email, so you may mail the originals to us. Using mailing tubes is recommended for most printed materials.

Orders over $99 will be shipped free, otherwise our flat rate shipping fee is $19.

Q6 : What kinds of items can I plaque mount?
Anything flat that is no more than 1/8†thick: Business documents, Awards & Certificates, Diplomas, Promotional & Advertising Materials, Point-of-Sale Displays, Prints & Photos, Movies & Sports Posters, Newspapers & Magazine Articles, Blueprints, Postcards, Children's Drawings, Wedding Invitations, Mission Statements, Charts, Jigsaw Puzzles, Newspaper Clippings, Sketches, Maps, Collages, Comics, Price Lists, Letters, Charts and Displays.

Q7 : What articles should not undergo the plaque mounting process?
If a print is valuable or irreplaceable, it should not be laminated or plaque mounted. For example, original artwork such as oil or watercolour paintings should not be plaque mounted.

Q8 : How much does plaque mounting cost?
If you have the original poster, photo or print please use following online calculator: Plaque Mounting Pricing

Please note that if you have a digital artwork, the printing price will be added to the plaque mounting cost.

Q9 : What does MDF stand for?
MDF stands for Medium Density Fiberboard.

Q10 : What are other terms for plaque mounting?
Plak Mounting, MDF mounting, Plaque Laminating, Wood Laminating, Wood-block Mounting and Wood Mounting are some alternative terms for Plaque Mounting.

Q11 : What are the size limits for plaque mountings?
Sizes range from 5"x7" to 48"x96". We can also accomodate custom sizes. For Matted and Combo/Duplex styles, the maximum size is 24"x30".

Q12 : How many different plaque mounting styles do you offer?
We offer five styles: Standard/Flat, Float, Box/Flush, Matted, and Combo/Raised Mountings. Examples can be seen on our Plaque Mounting page.

Q13 : How long will it take for my prints to be plaque mounted?
It will take 5-6 business days to plaque mount pre-printed artworks (posters, photos and prints). Please allow an additional day (6-7 business days total) if your digital artwork must first be printed by us.

Q14 : Do you provide plaque mounting for more than 1 photo per board?
Yes, if you have small photos or other printed material like newspaper snips and would like to make a collage, just place an order for the final plaque size and mail the printed material to be plaque mounted together.
