I grew up on the Alberta prairies and still live in and explore the wild places in Canada.
I received my first camera when I was 8 yrs old; A Kodak Instamatic 104. It was a gift from my Grandma and I started taking pictures of anything that interested me, family camping trips took on a new meaning.
As the years passed and my cameras upgraded my interests turned more to nature and I could spend hours behind the viewfinder, capturing fall colours, trees, mountains, water etc. as well as experimenting with different creative procedures and still lifes.
I like my subjects to look as natural as possible-you can’t improve on nature. I keep my processing simple and believe the photo is made mainly in the camera by the photographer and not by equipment or editing. I aim to honestly represent what I originally saw or want to express. As I also believe in caring for the natural world that I love to explore and photograph, I aim to do no damage in order to get a shot and like to leave things as I found them.
Nature photography isn’t just making great photographs but also the experience behind the camera. I enjoy being in the outdoors and find unlimited beauty and inspiration. While on photo shoots I will often find myself completely absorbed in a subject or detouring for an unscheduled stop to capture something that caught my attention. Some of these detours have been the most rewarding for me.
Most importantly; I believe in God as creator of the world and never cease to be amazed at His design, and this is what draws me to photograph nature and express the wonder, and perfect beauty that I see. The created praises the creator and brings us into the presence of God. I hope you will be inspired to walk closer to your creator and enjoy and preserve the wonderful world He has given you.
